2. Radhe Jaggi – Daughter of Jaggi Vasudev. Director in two of the major entities.

3. Moumita Sen Sarma – Director with Isha Foundation and Former VP of ABN AMRO. Post exit of Bharati Varadaraja she was controlling the major business with her corporate experience,

4. Swaminathan Vellangiri – Not known much of his background, Just appears as director in many of Jaggi’s Benami Firms.

Browsing to the last page shows that Jaggi alias Jagadish Vasudev in 2005 Declared Himself as a Business Person and were appointed as the first director the company Thrishul Shelters Private Limited. Interestingly He is no more a director and not seen in past director list.

It’s not ending there, Jaggi was an equal share holder along with Bharati Varadaraja and Ruckmini Karthikeyan.

But the twist is interesting, The company was started in 1995 by P Karthikeyan and Ruckmini Karthikeyan but now owned by Jaggi and Family. What Would have happened to Ruckmini and Karthikeyan ? One fine morning in 2013 Jaggi used his might to bring his daughter and Puneet Nanda to the board of Directors by force and then by taking over the entire wealth of Karthikeyan, Ruckmini and Bharathi Varadaraj.

Interestingly the Company started with Ruckimini giving her landing as lease to Thrishul Shelter

So I hereby publish the letter wrote by Ruckmini to Government of India.

I am the promoter Director of the Company, Trishul SheltersPvt Ltd. The Company was incorporated on 1995 and I was actively involved along with my husband and ex-CEOMr.P.Karthikeyan since incorporation. The Company was incorporated with a share capital of Rs.100000/-.

As on date, our shareholding in the Company stands as 32.33%which is 32.33%of the total shareholding of the company.

Now after 8 years of my hard work and the company which has been started with a capital of Rs.1,00,000 now has assets worth as per last Audited Balance Sheet stood as Rs.5,28,00,000 with market value manifolds.

To induct Miss.Radhe Jaggi into the Board I have been targeted by the other membersof the Board of Directors. There was flurry of activity in the company with lot of behind the scene work in the affairs of the company. I apprehend these are the attempts to divert the assetsand land banks of the company in which I am the promoter Director.

Apart from other issues the following actsof oppressionhasbeen initiated by the present Board of Directors:

• Two Board Meetings were conducted at the remotest place with 12 hours notice to attend without proper agenda being circulated. This is a gross violation of Articles of Association of the company and provisionsof Companies Act 1956.Needless to say, it is a gross corporate misgovernance on the part of the Board of Directors.
• Nomination of two more Additional Directors, Puneet Nanda and Velliangiri Subramaniam has been done with an attempt to dilute my control over the affairs of the company , which was never informed to me. Neither the minutes of the meeting sent to me inspite of repeated reminders nor I have been intimated about the same.
• Change of Authorized signatories in the Bank operation to dislodge me from the operations of the company.
• On 22.7.2013,Mr.Sudir Nair, a person totally unconnected with the management with a recent authorisation as Chief Operations Officer, has barged into my office and threatened me of dire consequences .

In view of continuous harassment and oppression against me as a Director of the company, I am unable to continue the Directorship of the Company.

I hereby resign from the Directorship of the Company w.e.f 2^nd August 2013.

By this resignation, I wish to reiterate my right as a shareholder and promoter of the company remains same and I reserve my right to initiate appropriate action, civil and criminal against the oppression by the Board of Directors and majority shareholdersand any person claiming under them.

News Laundry does an Article on Jaggi with the following Content. The piece was well researched and throws light on Isha Foundations ways to evade tax across the globe.

Jaggi Vasudev’s Isha Foundation Inc, which is registered in the United States, showed a net income of Rs 56.43 crore in 2018, as per Internal Revenue Service records. Of this, it says, about Rs 35.81 crore came from donations. There are no public records of the foundation’s revenues in India but it claims that donations – or “contributions”, as it prefers to describe such transactions – account for a considerable chunk. Only there’s evidence that at least some of the donations aren’t so. In fact, Isha even lists as “donations” earnings from selling services such as yoga sessions and “spiritual” jaunts as well as a range of products.

This is a public data which was never investigated in detailed by any of the Indian Main stream media. As we know Jaggi spend millions during his Shivaratri stage show as Ad money to these media in India. Consistent payment to these media make them reluctant to do an investigation on these financial in-appropriation. Assessing the time line prove a major thing that Isha’s mass branding began sometime after 2009. Was this due to the pumping of money that came from the off- Shore firms in Panama ?

An investigative piece written by a Journalist with name Great Game India provides details of Isha’s Project green hands being funded by George Soros. In 2007, Isha foundations press releases claimed Jaggi Vasudev participated in WEF – Davos along with George Soros. It’s a know fact that George Soros too was named in Panama Leaks along with his agent Mossack Fonseca who is also agent for Isha foundation’s registration in Panama. It’s suspicious why an organization which claims to be purely spiritual needs to start a foundation in Panama and close it down after few years of operation.Its sure that it’s not for teaching meditation.

Apart from this We have questions :

What happens to All Money that was collected in name of Cauvery Calling and Where was that invested ?

What happens to all money they collected to plant trees in Cauvery basin ? If planted 219 Million Plants would be there. Isha Foundation collected 42 Rs per plant and their website shows. Isha generated 235 Crore from this campaign. Did they spend at least 10 percent on this? They were just spending 5 percent on the PR activities through a Bangalore Based PR firm by roping in Politicians,Actors and Business groups. On the expense of Public money,How long an organization could run their ad campaigns ? Where is this money going?

Responding to the court in March that year, the Isha Foundation claimed that it wasn’t involved in Cauvery Calling. The project, it said, was run by Isha Outreach, which had collected “donations” amounting to Rs 82.50 crore until the previous month and used it entirely to plant trees. Currently, Isha’s website shows that 5.6 crore trees have been contributed to the project so far. At Rs 42 a tree that comes to over Rs 235 crore.

The Soil Rises

The facts behind isha and their green hands:

“In 2015, Isha came to Salem and put up flex boards all over the city illegally as usual announcing that it is planting 9 lac saplings to create a new Guinness Record by breaking its own record created in 2006 in three districts. This time around only Salem was the chosen one.

The flex boards in capitals shouted that the 9 lac’th sapling would be planted by the then Governor of TN Rossaiah. Meaning 8 lac 99 thousand saplings would be planted before the governor planted his sapling.

Two functions were organised on the occassion. One in periyar university and other a public one near old bus stand. For reasons known only to Jaggi and his group the evening meeting was cancelled.

What was wrong with the attempt to create the record –

1. Isha had only given plastic covers & seeds to schools.

2. For soil, watering, seed sowing and maintenance children and school funds were used.

3. Plastic and seed are important but cost only less than 20% of the total cost in raising a sapling.

4. Come Dec most of the saplings had withered away once schools were closed for vacation & no one to water the saplings.

5. Jan 5 is no planting time with no guarantee at all that rains will occur to safeguard the saplings. August is the earmarked day to complete plantation activity as per the forest working plan.

6. 9 lac plastic covers would not have cost more than 2 to 3 lacs but for getting so much media attention and building a narrative around the ashram this amount is peanuts.

7. Anyways Isha claimed Guinness record attempt which got cancelled and Limca accorded it the honor of Planting 9 lac saplings.

8. Since then we have been asking Isha volunteers where their saplings were planted so that we could water them .. they have not showed even 90 saplings in a row forget 9 lacs. they claimed that 3 lac children will plant the saplings in predetermined sites.

9. The puny few inched size saplings could not have survived the summer even if they were planted.

10. Sapling distribution being called as planting is a huge fraud.

11. The claims of increasing TN’s forest cover by 7.5% is complete work of imagination of Isha foundation which has been regularly selling saplings at a very cheap price ( the only silver lining in their work) to people thru their nurseries and taking the credit of planting too.

This is the manner in which the first record was also created in 2006. This green fooling needs to end as it white washes a lot of Isha’s crimes.

Jan 5 incidentally has replaced April 1 as the Fool’s day in Salem.”

Jaggi Vasudev – Sadhguru or Scamster ?

Jagadeesh alias Jaggi Vasudev alias Sadhguru is an icon now to millions of his followers.  His followers range from High Court Judges to none other than the Prime Minister of India.   The clout enjoyed by Jaggi exceeds that of Pathanjali guru Baba Ramdev or Sri Sri Ravishankar.  The reason being, while the other two Gurus are very keen to be seen in the company of corporate leaders, CEOs and movers and shakers of the corporate world, Jaggi is keen to enter into the echelons of power. Viz. IAS, IPS and senior officers, Judges, and middlemen.

Within a short span of time, Jaggi has attained cult status and millions of his well-educated followers worship him as God.

The early days of Jaggi Vasudev are quite murky. He was accused of the murder of his wife Viji.  Viji, was found dead under mysterious circumstances and Jaggi explained it away stating she had attained Moksha.  But Viji’s father Ganganna though otherwise.  In his complaint filed with the Bengaluru city police, Ganganna alleged that Jaggi killed his daughter Viji, due to an affair with another woman. He also alleged that Jaggi has burnt the body of his daughter in spite of a specific request by him to perform the last rites.  An Indian Express report dated 12, October 1997 reads :

“Close on the heels of scandals relating to fake godmen getting exposed, yet another ashram from Coimbatore is in the limelight with Jaggi Vasudev alias Jagadeesh of Isha Yoga ashram at Poondi near Coimbatore, being charged with the murder of his wife Viji alias Vijayakumari. A team of police personnel recently visited the premises of Isha Ashram at Poondi and interrogated the inmates of the ashram. Godman Jaggi is away in the US.According to police, T. S. Ganganna of Bangalore (father of Viji) had preferred a complaint with the Bangalore Police suspecting foul play in the death of his daughter Viji. The complainant had stated that his daughter left him last on June 15, 1996. He reportedly received a message on January 23, 1997, from Jaggi Vasudev, stating that Viji was no more.Ganganna said that Jaggi Vasudev had hurriedly completed the cremation on Jan.24 even before they could rush from Bangalore, raising suspicion about the nature of death. He suspected death due to poisoning or strangulation.According to him, Jaggi Vasudev could have caused the death of Viji to facilitate his illicit relationship with yet another inmate of the ashram. Based on the complaint of Ganganna to the Bangalore City Police on Aug. 12, a case was registered.The Bangalore City Police transferred it to the Coimbatore Rural Police.The Coimbatore Rural Police have registered a case against Jaggi Vasudev under Section 302 of IPC (murder) and IPC 201 (suppression of evidence).Later, Isa Yoga Foundation has denied reports that Jaggi Vasudev had fled to the USA to avoid investigation of the ashram. Authorised Signatory of the ashram, Kiran stated that Guruji had gone for giving lectures.”

The case registered by Bengaluru city police was subsequently transferred to Coimbatore and the Alandurai PS registered a case in Cr. No. 176/1997 u/s 302, 201 IPC r/w 34 of IPC.   However, under mysterious circumstances, the case was closed as undetected on 08.01.1999 in RCS 6/99.

The death of Jaggi’s wife Viji remains a mystery till date.  However, Jaggi continues to give detailed lectures about how Viji attained moksha and merged with God.

Jaggi who was a low profile Guru shot to fame following his series in the popular weekly Ananda Vikatan titled ‘Athanaikum Aasaipadu’, which translates as, ‘desire for everything’. This is directly in contrast with the teachings of Buddha, which says, ‘desire is the root cause of all evil’. This series in Ananda Vikatan catapulted him to fame.  But he was yet to enter the power corridors.

Come 2006,  Jaggi got close to the ruling power due to his association with the Tamil Bi-Weekly Nakkiran’s associate editor Kamaraj.  Following his association with Kamaraj, Jaggi got introduced to the then Chief Minister Karunanidhi and got into the corridors of power.  There was no looking back from there.  Jaggi, who had destroyed the greenery in and around the foothills of Velliangiri Hills, at Coimbatore, started a new ‘greenery movement’ with the then CM Karunanidhi.  The campaign made headlines and Jaggi ensured that he had a dedicated uninterrupted power line to his ashram when the state was suffering from acute power shortage. Due to his influence, he ensured that the forest department’s Toll plaza on the way to his ashram was also removed.

Jaggi’s graph continued to rise and he began to get cosy with many celebrities, thus expanding his clout throughout the country.  However, allegations of bulldozing land owners into selling their lands and undertaking constructions in violation of Hill Area Conservation Authority and Town and Country Planning act came to the forefront.  This writer in 2013, first exposed the illegal constructions in Jaggi’s ashram through a series of articles.    Subsequently, three public interest litigations were filed in the Madras HC seeking a direction for the demolition of illegal constructions.  All the litigations are still pending in the Madras HC. But constructions violating all norms and rules, continue unabated to this day.

The cunning Jaggi has gone on to increase his political clout, by showering lavish praises on Modi’s demonetization and various other ‘reforms’.

In February last year, Jaggi constructed a 112-foot statue of Lord Shiva, which he claimed to be of Adhiyogi and invited the Prime Minister to unveil the statue.   Green activists and angry protestors voiced their opposition and requested the PM not to participate in the event.  A press meet was held with the support of a retired High Court judge in protest of the PM’s visit.

But, Narendra Modi, who is known to never miss a photo op, promptly landed in Coimbatore and unveiled the statue.  This photo op with Modi and Modi’s participation in the statue unveiling ceremony sent out a clear message.  Jaggi is now beyond the reach of the law.

However, activists continue to pursue and expose the illegal activities of Jaggi Vasudev. One such instance which has come to light is Isha Foundation and Jaggi’s large-scale tax violations. A Chennai based activist has sent a complaint to the Income Tax department seeking a probe and action in which he narrates in detail about the violation of Jaggi and his Isha Foundation.  The complaint:

Isha Foundation is a public charitable trust registered vide Trust Deed no. 102 of 2005 book 4 vol 30, dated 8-4-2005.    The Trust has registered under sec 12A(a) of IT Act: C.No.327(398)/2005-06/CIT-III/CBE dated 7-10-2005 and its PAN number is   AAATI4764K.

The said Isha Foundation has got exemption under Section 80 G of the IT Act.   Isha Foundation is headed by a self-styled godman Jaggi Vasudev, who calls himself as ‘Sadhguru’. The foundation built across several acres in the foothills of Velliangiri Hills, Coimbatore District is mired by controversies like the construction of buildings without proper permission from the local authorities or Town and Country Planning Department or the Hill Area Conservation Authority (HACA).

The foremost condition of exemptions under Section 80 G of the IT Act is ‘donations’.   According to the definition in Webster’s dictionary, “donation is something that you give in order to help a person or organisation”.  In essence, the donation should be voluntary and not forced. 

The Isha Foundation conducts yoga classes, throughout the state. According to information, Isha Foundation hires Marriage Halls to conduct temporary yoga sessions  The yoga sessions range from 7 days course to 15 days course. The foundation also conducts several stages of advanced courses in the Isha Foundation centre in Coimbatore.  

For the initial 7 day course, the foundation collects a fee of Rs.2000/- to Rs.2500/-.  This amount is not voluntary but a compulsory fee to participate in the yoga classes.    But when the amount is paid, the receipt provided for the payment invariably states that it’s a ‘donation’ and exempted under Section 80 G of the Income Tax Act.    The fee for the advanced stage of Yoga classes run into several thousands.

At all the yoga sessions in Chennai and other places, various items such as books of Jaggi Vasudev, audio and video tapes of Jaggi, Jaggi’s pictures, and several items such as pickles, rudraksha malas and other items are being sold by the organisers of Isha.   On the sale of all these articles, the receipt provided states that it is a ‘donation’ and not a sale. 

Jaggi Vasudev through his disciples has started a new firm, ‘Isha Shoppe’ and sells various items from books to garments.  The said Isha Shoppe has 2 outlets in Coimbatore, 3 in Bangalore, one each in Chennai and Salem.   The receipts provided in these outlets, also state that the amount paid was a ‘donation’. To cite an example, a drawing containing Jaggi’s footprint costs Rs.1,31,700/- which if bought will be termed as a donation. 

Jaggi Vasudev has built several cottages inside his ashram in Coimbatore which are of star hotel quality and accommodates foreign disciples, these cottages are rented out at exorbitant rates.  As already established, the receipts provided here also claim the amount to be a donation.

Apart from selling Yoga, Jaggi Vasudev is running the following firms through his disciples.

          Further, I would like to bring to your notice that, any charitable organisations which are availing exempted under Section 80 G, should not indulge in any business and if they do so, according to Section 80 G (5) (i)

(a) the institution or fund maintains separate books of account in respect of such business;

(b) the donations made to the institution or fund are not used by it, directly or indirectly, for the purposes of such business; and

(c) the institution or fund issues to a person making the donation a certificate to the effect that it maintains separate books of account in respect of such business and that the donations received by it will not be used, directly or indirectly, for the purposes of such business;

As listed above, the Isha Foundation is involved in 16 businesses in various fields. It is suspected that the funds collected through the sale of various items, yoga classes and Shivaratri events are being funnelled into the above businesses to evade tax and multiply the investments.

That apart, Section 80 G (5) (iii) specifies that “the institution or fund is not expressed to be for the benefit of any particular religious community or caste”.

The Isha Foundation is a Hindu organisation.   Worship of Lord Shiva, a Hindu god is being propagated by Isha Foundation’s leader Jaggi Vasudev.  He had erected a huge statue of Lord Shiva in his ashram at Vellingiri, Coimbatore.

Every year during the Maha Shivaratri, a Hindu festival, Jaggi used to bring together several important people and conduct an event at Coimbatore.    This clearly shows, the exemption granted for ‘charity purposes’ is being misused for religious purposes.

On the night of 13 February 2018, Mahashivaratri festival was celebrated by Jaggi Vasudev.  The entry fee for the event was Rs.500/- Rs.1000/-, Rs.5000/-, Rs.20,000/- and Rs.50,000/-. On a rough assessment, around 5 lakh people participated in the event.

The entire amount collected towards this event, which runs into several crores have been accounted for as donation and not as entry fee”

The activist who doesn’t wish to be named told this writer “I know, given the clout of Jaggi Vasudev, there may not be any action on my complaint.  But as a citizen, it is my duty to expose the illegal activities of a fake godman and the loss he is causing to the exchequer.  I know, Jaggi Vasudev can haunt me if he knows my identity and try to bully, just like he ensured the arrest of Coimbatore based activist Shiva and Piyush Manush.  But, some one has to take up the cudgel”, said the activist.

He also added that if there is no action on the part of tax authorities, he won’t hesitate to move the Madras High Court for appropriate orders.

With the Madras High Court sleeping over four PILs against Isha Foundation for more than 6 years, it is doubtful that even if a new PIL is filed, it would see the light of the day.

A fraud always a fraud

This post is a consolidation of few claims made by ex followers of Jaggi including me.

 

 

1. Jaggi does black magic – Yes . Its known to many people that Jaggi do black magic to attract followers. He has been always surpassing the lineage of traditional vedanta and hindu spiritual practises to attain wealth as well as fame.
2. Jaggi stole many practises from many other Gurus- Yes . He stole many things from His Guru Rishi Prabhakar and made a hoax story that he got enlightened in some mountains. He copied Gurupuja from Maharishi Mahesh Yogi’s tradition. He was never directly connected

Brahmananda Saraswatim cha Shri Brahmam dhyayami jyotir mayam.

Critics asks : How come Brahmananda Saraswati become Guru of Jaggi (Brahmananda Sarswati was Guru of Maharishi Mahesh yogi . He was also the Shankaracharya or Jyothirmath) . This clearly shows Jaggi is someway connected to Rishi Prabhakar . Why Jaggi never admitted that Rishi Prabhakar was His Guru? Personally i know Jaggi was an organizer with SSY for a long time .

3.Land Grabber –  Not know exactly but latest media reports show that many of the constructions of Isha were not given permission by local authorities . Even His latest Adi Yogi structure didn’t obtain enough permissions. The foundation was served a lock and seal, and demolition notice on December 21, 2012, over these unauthorised construction, spread across 109 acres, to establish Isha Meditation Lingam Religious Workshop and its connected buildings.

4. Did Jaggi was accused of Killing his wife Viji / Vijaya Kumari- Yes He is . Many people who was with Jaggi really know what exactly happened . Jaggi always says that she went into MahaSamadhi (Lol) . Indian Law and enforcement agencies or any organizations did any assessment on how Maha Samadhi is attained ? Jaggi cremated the body before any autopsy was done.Viji was a very good lady who used to work in a bank . I will be publishing a series of stories related to Viji’s death soon. Jaggi was associated towards a woman named Bharati who left her husband to live with Jaggi .

Jagadish ,Guru and Now Shiva

During my initial days at Isha, Jagadish used to be very simple. Even in very personal interactions with the yoga aspirants he never used to be formal. He was like a cool Yoga coach . He never used to project his self or never tried to sell his abilities . He made us all call Jagadish or Jaggi . Every one who visited him had the permission to call him Jaggi . He never boasted to be a cult leader who should be addressed as “Sadhguru”.
I was shocked when i heard this term “Sadhguru” . I never wanted to visit a place or be with a person who used to be very ritualistic and conditional. My thought of a Guru was always unconditionality . The transformation of Jagadish to Jaggi and to Sadhguru was very short . Initially He was very reluctant and shy to make others call Him Sadhguru but later on when he started getting attention from celebrities and politicians he insisted everyone to address Him as Sadhguru. He took the common term to His name.  From my personal association till 2014 i understood that He is not so cool as you see him. Very fond of luxury , Very arrogant and Very afraid of loosing things. Should a Sadhguru be so materialistic?

Internally he is trying reiterate the concept of Adi Yogi in Himself . To elaborate , He is trying to become the reincarnation of Adiyogi (ie Shiva). He wanted his close followers and associates to address see him as Adiyogi. I saw his interview in a tamil channel, I was pretty shocked by the Sadhguru loosing his cool when someone address Him Jaggi.

Enlightenment , a term with no scientific assessment . Sadhguru , either a term which got no meaning or many meanings never suits Jagadish.

The Beginning – The Initiation

In 2000 , I reached Coimbatore . It was a long waited Journey for Me from Moscow . I always loved to meet this Indian Guru who speaks and act spontaneously . I was introduced to Isha Ashram by my class mate who studied with me in Bauman Moscow State Technical University. The curiosity increased as starting hearing more stories about him. I was told Jagadish Aka Jaggi  is so simple and humble. During my first trip i experienced His simplicity and he made me sit with him for many hours. I was skeptical about this Indian Guru . Even though i am Indian , i have never felt the pulse of Indian spirituality . I was born and brought up in different countries since my father had to relocate to different areas for different reasons.

Even i had conversations regarding in His enlightenment , His Guru and more… Spirituality was never my thought but it came to me spontaneously . My passion for that increased after meeting Jagadish . But again doubts came to me and he used to say those are the best way to start living in this path. I believed his words till 2016 . I was initiated to many things and many offerings were made , but my life remains the same . Being in Isha itself became a big stress for for me . Handling volunteers , egos of Swami’s,terms like anger of guru etc etc hunted me down for years . I will be writing sincere chapters about my life in Isha.

This blog is a collective offering from Many people who left Isha to share those stories to world .
